Jaycee stepped off of the bus, listening to Albus answer Hugo’s question. Hearing about it made her so much more eager to get out on the mountain. It was beautiful. She didn’t exactly expect this from Mexico. The warm weather and beaches, yes, of course. But this? This was extraordinary. She looked over at Albus just in time to see him smiling down at her. She smiled back up at him, beaming. She thought he was one of the most intelligent guys she had ever met. To Jaycee, that was an attractive quality.
She then looked over at Hugo as they walked towards the start of the trail. She gave him a tiny smile, communicating with him through her eyes. It was a bi awkward to be with him. She had hung out with him after they slept together before; but maybe it was so weird for her because they had this secret that Albus didn’t know about. Jaycee wasn’t exactly sure how to feel about it.
“And, here we go!” Jaycee exclaimed, setting a foot on the trail and making a big show of it by extending her arms and performing Jazz Hands. “Shall we record this moment in history, Sir Albus?” she asked, gesturing to his camera.
Hugo rolled his eyes when Jaycee asked Albus to record the moment. He didn’t know why the guy was rubbing him wrong, maybe it was because he was…dare he say it jealous of the guy? Hugo was falling for her, but clearly she was preferring this greased up hair guy over him. He just shook his head, “Lets go.” he suggested as he started to walk. He wasn’t feeling to good, but he sucked it up because he wanted to spend the day with Jaycee. It wasn’t helping having Albus there, but there was nothing the poor guy could do. He just drank his water, trying to make his vision more clear. His head started to spin, but just shook it off.
As they began to climb the mountain Hugo was ahead of them, he looked back at them. “If you two need any help just tell me, I done this a few times.” He then started to head up trying to keep a good focus. All he could hear was the two laughing non stop, while he felt like he was going to throw up everywhere. He brushed it off and continued to head up.
Jaycee smiled as she looked at the picture, somewhat satisfied with how the image came out. “It actually looks pretty good,” she confirmed, leaning back in her seat. The inside of the bus was stuffy and kind of dirty, but they’d be out of it soon, so she tried not to let it bother her so much.
Upon hearing Hugo’s words, Jaycee almost didn’t believe her ears. Hugo was apologizing? And then there went Albus, accepting it. Whether the exchange was sincere or not, Jaycee was happy that they could continue the trip in peace. Jaycee turned to face Hugo, giving him an encouraging smile. His efforts had to be acknowledged. And like she thought, sincere or not, pride finally wasn’t an issue.
The bus finally rolled to a stop, and Jaycee checked to see if anything had fallen out of her backpack. Some fellow hikers filed out of the bus, leaving Hugo, Jaycee, and Albus. Jaycee stood and motioned for Hugo and Albus to do the same. “Are you guys ready?” she asked as they walked down the isle of the bus. Her hair was sticking to the back of her neck, thanks to her sweat. She pulled a hair tie off of her wrist and threw her hair into a ponytail.
Hugo started to walk towards the bus door and exited it. “Yeah, lets get this trip going all ready.” he replied holding one strap of his backpack. The summer heat was dreadful, but from the looks of the mountains he needed this. When he was growing up him and his family used to hike every weekend. Sadly that ended faster then he you said luggage. Steeping out on to the rocky ground he spotted something shinny and picked it and pocked it.
He looked back to see if the two where behind him, “So how long do you think this is going to take us?” he question looking up at the sun then back at them. “I’m hoping its a all day thing, hopefully we can get to know each other more this way.” As much as he didnt like Albus, he needed to give the guy a fair chance. Then rather not, because his mother always taught him to be respectful regardless.
“Oh,” Jaycee said, nodding slowly when Hugo had answered her question. She wondered what Hugo was like when he was younger. Was he always an asshole? Maybe something had happened to him to make him turn out that way. Jaycee let a small laugh escape her lips when Albus told her about his unfortunate hiking experience. “Oh man, that sucks. Let’s hope this time doesn’t… end up like that,” she said, smiling at Albus.
When Jaycee noticed Albus aim his camera at her, she complied and gave him a smile that she hoped was attractive. She always got a little anxious when people took pictures of her, so she always came out looking too posed. “Let me see,” she said, giving Albus a little nude on his side and leaning over his shoulder to look at his camera. She realized she was flirting and felt a little bad, seeing as Hugo was right there, but she couldn’t exactly help it. Besides, if Hugo cared, it would give him a little challenge. Jaycee liked the idea of these two somewhat fighting over her. As long as they didn’t take it too far.
Hugo rolled his eyes as Albus took pictures of Jaycee. He was jealous, he was pretty sure Albus knew he was jealous to. He liked Jaycee, from the moment to spit out her first insult to him. There was something about her that made Hugo feel different. He was getting the feeling that acting like a baby was not going to get him anywhere. So he put on a smile, for the girl who was there. Hugo was not a asshole that was for sure. He may come off that way, but it was only because he was hurt so many times before. That he had a big issue with trusting anyone. “Look Albus,” Hugo added putting a hand on the mans shoulder. “I am sorry about earlier, lets just have some fun shall we?” he gave out a smile to the man and put his hand out for the man to take it.
Jaycee smiled at Albus when he mentioned that he had brought his camera. “Great! I completely forgot mine. I don’t know what’s wrong with me today,” she laughed, nervously. After rummaging around in her purse, she produced a miniature fan. The things never worked for her, but she didn’t see the harm in bringing one along. The heat was unbearable.
When Hugo spat his rude words of hatred Albus, Jaycee’s eyes widened and she snapped her head to look at him. “Hugo,” she hissed, glad she she was standing between them. She wondered what had happened between the both of them to make them resent each other so much. Was there a history between them that she didn’t know about? Or was Hugo just being a jerk?
After Albus and Hugo introduced themselves, Jaycee arched an eyebrow. So, the two didn’t know each other. “So,” Jaycee said, trying to change the subject, “Have any of you ever hiked before?”
When Albus said that Hugo’s name was ‘to long’ he started to look around in confusion. “It’s a four letter word,” he rolled his eyes. Then when he said that his name was Albus, Hugo couldn’t help but break into laughter. “What the hell kind of name is ‘Albus’.” He keep on laughing until Jaycee brought up if they hiked before. “I used to do it all the time when I was younger. Family always went on vacations to the mountains. I actually moss doing it actually, especially with my family.” Hugo started to look down as he brought up his family. The four of them use to all be so close, until his father started to drink heavily. Thats was the first crack of their messed up family now.
“But its of course what ever,” he added looking back up. He looked at Jaycee and couldn’t help but smile at her. He didnt know whether it was her badass life style he liked, or her true self that lied inside that attracted him to her. All of that didnt matter because Albus was there to cockblock the guy.
Jaycee cleared her throat and opted to look down at her feet rather then give the two the stern stares that they deserved. She hoped she could keep her cool on this trip. She noticed Hugo scoot closer to her, and she took a nonchalant step forward, not wanting to get in the middle of anything.
She let out a sigh of relief when Albus suggested that they get moving. “That we should!” she smiled, trying to add a little pep in her tone. If she decided to stay with her usual bad attitude, they all probably wouldn’t get through the journey alive. So, she tried to be the light in what was a deep, dark cave of testosterone. “I hope you guys have everything you need,” she said, starting to walk towards the small bus stop. A shuttle was supposed to pick them up and drive them to the base of the mountain. They could’ve walked, but it would take about half an hour to forty-five minutes to get there, and Jaycee didn’t think she could stand those minutes. “I only brought enough supplies for myself,” she shrugged.
Hugo kept a tight grip on his backpack as he looked away from the other guy. As they waited Hugo just tried to not make any eye contact, when Jaycee said she only brought enough stuff for herself Hugo slightly chuckled. “Well I only brought enough for myself to, anyways its my shit not anyone else.” he added giving the other guy a death glare. He then turned to him, “By the way I hope there is plenty of stand to kick in your eyes ass hole.” he smirked. “Anyways since we are spending the day together mind as well know your dumb name.” he remarked. “I’m Hugo, so if you would call me that. That would be much appreciated.” he then looked forwards just waiting for the next thing.
It was so hot outside, that Hugo felt as if he was going to die if this bus didn’t hurry up. He was used to this kind of heat, but today is was just out of the ordinary.
Jaycee heard footsteps behind her and turned to see Hugo approaching. She gave him a shy smile and a little wave. From the corner of her eye, she saw Albus approaching from the opposite side. She also gave him a smile and mouthed a hello. She wasn’t sure if she was dreading this trip or if she was excited for it. Perhaps both. After all, she was going hiking with two incredibly good looking guys. One of which was her one night stand, and the other strangely charming and mysterious.
“Oh no, I haven’t been waiting for long,” she said, looking back and forth between Albus and Hugo. She could cut the tension with a knife. “You, uh… You guys ready to go?”
Hugo glared over to the other guy, he didnt know the guys name and didnt care. He just wanted to enjoy his time, hiking, relaxing, just staying chili. He wasn’t in the mood to start any drama with anyone. He smiled over at Jaycee, when she asked if they where ready. “I am ready as ever.” he added with a smirk raising a eyebrow to her. He then looked over to the random guy, who clearly checking out Jaycee. He just rolled his eyes and began to walk closer to Jaycee. “So you ready?” he hissed at the other guy. “Or do you need to fix that ‘perfect’ hair of yours?”
Hugo just wanted the guy to go away. He was hoping he wouldn’t show up, so it could just be Jaycee and him. But he decided to come, basically ruining any chances he might have with the beautiful girl who was on his right.
*waits outside of the hotel for the boys, double checking everything in her backpack*
Let’s see… Water bottle, snacks, first aid kit… where are my sunglasses? Oh, they’re on my face… Why am I talking to myself?
*gets his stuff and heads out to meet Jaycee and that ass of a guy who he has no idea what his name is* I hope that douche will not do anything stupid. *sees Jaycee* Well Hello there *winks and turns around to that ass of a guy* He is still coming well thats great.
